etraya[Making his video debut and totally not someone who posted earlier in the year as a civilian is Red Hood. His helmet may look familiar for those who saw Robin's video post earlier in the week, and maybe even more so his whole outfit might be familiar because of how Red Hood charged in to grab back his stuff.
But in any case, he's recording somewhere in Nova City and at the top of some concrete stairs. At the bottom is a short landing before there are more stairs leading to a narrow street and an obstacle course made of heavy planters, construction barricades, and other bits of random debris]
The name's Red Hood. Like Robin said earlier this week, I can help out with training if anyone needs it. I've gotten far without having powers and itβs handy to know self-defense, especially if you get handicapped by one of these missions.
I can also teach parkour if anyoneβs interested. I know someone's already offered to teach some fancy jumping. This oneβs more about if you gotta do more than just one good jump to get away.

What follows next is a series of leaps and backflips to get down the street and over the obstacles he had set up for himself. He makes good use of the walls and concrete to launch himself as necessary. Finally at the end of the obstacle course he resumes talking]

Seeing recent concerns raised regarding self-defense, I wish to volunteer my aid. While I do possess abilities that exceed the ordinary, my dragoons are capable of similar martial feats. I've long trained alongside them and am capable of guiding a regimen for those who may be interested.
Any skill takes time to achieve, but as an example, leaping to great heights is the result of dragoon training. No magical or otherwise unique constitution is required for this in my world. In addition, I can assist in learning the use of spear, sword, and unarmed combat. Dragoons focus heavily on leg strength and balance.
I fully agree with "Robin" that we must be prepared for whatever challenges we are presented with, and being capable of defending oneself is a vital skill. I've no doubt that others can provide similar guidance, but for those interested, I'm willing to arrange a regular training schedule to help achieve individual goals.

So I'm currently breaking into what looks like a guard precinct. There are some weapons here but they're in bad shape and practically antiques.
[His voice squeaks a little in indignation on the word "antiques" at the sheer, pitiful oldness of it all. Of course he'd think projectile weapons were lame and out of fashion. Aside from being less functional, it's so uncool, having to hit stuff with little metal beads instead of high speed photon bursts. Like, okay, it's kind of cool people figured out how to shoot little metal bits into each other with nothing more than chemical propellant and a prayer, but he just prefers huge ammo reserves and larger bursts of damage.]
[Ugh. He's so put upon in the stone age times.]
I found a gun here I can maybe fix up if I can find some metal machining equipment and files. [He's found a decommissioned NYPD S&W Model 10. It's a little rusted and pitted, but still mostly intact, and it's obvious from the way he holds it and stares down the sight that he's stared down the sight of a gun many a time.] Preferably powered, but with the right tools, I can even fix it by hand. It'll just take forever.
[An odd bit of expertise for a 14-year-old boy. Usually, it'd take years to get that kind of metal-working expertise and the ability to restore something that damaged and broken.]
It's a manual, chemical based projectile weapon with a revolving chamber. I think I saw a thing meant to let people speed load these in one of the gun shops though. Like where you could pre-fill a round clip to drop in? I bet I could make more of those clips.
So question one: Anyone know how to make ammo for these? Or can their weird new powers do it? 'Cause it'll suck if I have to figure out how to make that too. I can figure out something to trade in return.
Question two: Anyone know where I can find some metal-working tools? Like facilities or shops on Earth in this era? I've been to New York City before but this is like seeing it in prehistoric times. The gun stores were wiped and I don't know where to find super-old stuff here.
[For instance, he has no clue that some schools have metal-working classes, but logically knows that some kind of institutions with that kind of thing might exist. He knows unfamiliarity with the era means it'll be harder to find without asking.]
And three: does anyone want anything fun from evidence lockup?

It's mostly wiped out but there are still a few goodies left.
[He looks around and nods his head approvingly at the clear and obvious signs of humanity's tendencies towards lawlessness in this time. Not all of it is grim, either; he's in a section that's mostly just confiscated, improvised weaponry or dismantled booby traps. Not all of it was necessarily used in commission of crimes because it wasn't sent off to any forensics labs. Just a handful of things that might be useful against the monsters, pre-modified so people don't have to find a bat and hammer their own spikes into it, for instance.]
[Past New Yorkers were such a creative people. He sounds impressed at the incivility:]

This is the outcome of a small player plot that isn't likely to impact the game at large - and characters who don't frequently reach out to Aurora may not notice any changes at all, given everything is being kept running according to plan. But you're welcome to run across his CR circle taking over some tasks for Aurora during this time.
So Bossienottheboss killed Cloud nimbuster to see if God was listening in the couple weeks leading up to the mission and Harold asked for an exception with Aurora to pay Cloud's death pass and prevent the resulting mem loss before he resurrected. Normally, you have to pay this prior to the death occurring.
Aurora agreed, but was reduced to only essential functions for a period of about 2 weeks during the mission. (Maybe this is why she's not available for the new arrival speeches on the TDMs and the bots are going a bit amuck?) Cloud's actual death occurred pre-mission, but Aurora was able to postpone the consequences until now.
Harold is tasked with ensuring things stay running smoothly while Aurora is reduced to limited functioning, and being Harold, he is not likely to make a public network post about anything.
Harold will probably only be reaching out to preestablished CR and making individual requests for help with this, but you're more than welcome to have your characters notice what's going on! Feel free to comment around here in this post to set up interactions with characters working on this if you'd like!

he's visibly sitting at a very nice kitchen counter, nicer than one would find in the apartments, with his boots resting up atop it. on his lap is an upside down helmet, and over the red tunic that's customary for robin is a leather jacket that is obviously several sizes too big for him. not that he seems bothered. quite the opposite: robin looks all too pleased with himself. and while the hand slung around the helmet is wrapped in a green ulnar gutter splint that blends in well with his gloves, the other? is holding onto a handgun with a spoon duct taped to the barrel.
which he is using to eat cereal out of the (plastic lined, with an actual bowl inside of it) hood.
like this is a completely ordinary way to eat cereal and a completely normal way to choose to post to etraya's network. )
There are a significant amount of individuals present who have metahuman abilities, yes? By that I mean anything more than what an average, ordinary human being could accomplish. While I am sure this functions well for you on a daily basis - the missions Aurora assigns to us can cause. . . hiccups in these abilities. Given the pattern that has been established by previous missions, I would estimate that the upcoming one may be more physically and mentally taxing. Often times, these missions do cause abilities to fluctuate and I can't imagine that would be good for anyone who is more accustomed to healing instantaneously or tolerating getting hit by moving busses as if it's nothing.

My point being - regardless of one's starting point, being prepared for anything that may come is essential to not dying here. If you are a metahuman who is accustomed to being able to handle more than others, I would recommend focusing on training yourself to be able to handle anything that may come your way, with or without those abilities. If you have no self-defense training at all, I would get on that.

I'm coming here to ask you guys for some, ugh, help. There are so many unexplored aspects about the world we currently live in, and a lot of unanswered questions we all have that aren't really going anywhere. I think it's about time we stopped being so fucking complacent and actively looked for them ourselves, because I'm so sick and tired of just waiting. It doesn't sit right with me.
So, I'm going to go on a little quest through a few places in this dump to see if I can actually find something, and that includes anywhere that fucking sucks, by the way, so I have that going on for me.
If you're new to this channel, know that telling me not to do shit I've decided to do has never worked, not even once in my life. You can't stop me, and that's final. What you can do is help me, and that's what I'm asking for. I need groups; it's a lot of ground to cover.
Do I know if it's going to pan out? No, I have no idea, so it might be bust, and then we went on this sidequest for no loot. Is it going to be dangerous? Probably.
So, at your own risk and responsibility, let me know.
P.S.: Needless to say, NYX is going to be closed till I'm back. When it's over, I'll call a meeting there for everyone to get with the news.
