[ there's been a lot of interference through the transceiver, and the air in the cave seems to have gotten cooler too. jinx was once used to it when she lived underground, but now, after she spent several months in aldrip and her quest to travel around the globe, her tolerance to it is long gone. so out of pure frustration with her hands and feet chilling, she babbles on the feed: ]
Uuuugh, alright, I give! Whoever is listening, I'll pay you to help me stay warm.
( heather had been obsessively hearing the feed for any sign of her dad still being around this prison they were forced into, but each day proved he truly was gone forever. his kind words, being able to have closer with him was genuinely healing and she isn't ungrateful about that.
she really just wishes he were here with her, helping her like he said he would. they were going to be a team after all.
instead here she was, listening to one annoyed girl on the other end. normally she didn't bite but she decided to this time. )
Pay? With what exactly? You got cash or worm meat?
( heather is almost quick and quite confident in calling this girl out for such a silly statement. still it couldn't hurt to make some allies and friends in this strange place, she certainly needed to keep her head above water.
[ she considers telling this stranger where she's located but then decides to come up with something better. but will this girl go along with it? that is the real question. ]
How about we play a game of hot and cold to make it more fun?
Ha, okay, okay! Where I am is somewhere in the middle of the floors.
[ is that a good hint? too easy? too dumb? it doesn't matter because jinx believes it's a good clue. there are only four floors in this whole cave, after all. ]
while heather began to walk around wondering if it was direct and obvious, or some kind of bizarre riddle [as in she is somehow between floors, aka the middle of them], she only made a few sounds audible through the speaker. the sound of her feet against the floor, a soft breath, and soon she was walking around the very last floor she was on. )
You're not secretly a mole are you?
( as in a real one who could dig holes through floors. )
( she managed to say, as the sounds of her footsteps went through the line. she was getting closer, but she was a bit confused. in hindsight, heather probably shouldn't have tried this when she was still so new to this....prison. )
Sharks are misunderstood by the way. They're only dangerous in our understanding of what they can do, but they never really do try to kill us. They take one chomp, realize we're humans, and swim away.
[ the next time jinx speaks, her voice comes in doubles—through the walkie and somewhere in person. she is definitely getting close, in fact, she might even see her with the second floor having less people around this time. maybe the person she's chatting with is that person who is lying on the rocky floors with her legs prop up against the wall. ]
Well, well, aren't we a smartie? I like that. Dealing with morons sometimes break me out in hives, ha ha!!
I like to think of people as unexperienced rather than morons. Besides they're harmless.
( truth be told heather had once viewed other people in such a manner, back in the days when she was alessa and far more prone to anger and negative sentiments. now she tried her best to be more tolerant of people and things.
not that it stopped her from being sassy; no she was a teen girl after all. )
I think I might be getting closer.....second floor? Is that where Miss Shark is hiding?
If I told you now, it'll ruin the surprise. –Juuuuust a little mooooore ♪.
[ she sing-songs to her companion, swaying her foot from side to side against the wall, eyes shut but continues to keep the walkie-talkie close to her lips. ]

Alright, but you have to give me a hint. A good one, even if it's a stupid riddle or something.

[ that's her answer to that. but to weirdly indulge in this question, she extends it: ]
Besides, I'd be a shark, not a mole. Sharks are way more my style, majestic but so, so dangerous. — Are you having trouble? Need another clue?
