woah woah woah okay harold? I don't want to be rude but I'm going to need you to back up for a moment.
what exactly did vincent say when he reached out to you? to protect me or something? I'm seriously confused.
( truthfully she wasn't because she's had this conversation with him a few times here and there, but what she wanted to know was how much she could reveal to harold without pissing vincent off. )
Considering he died once in part to protect you, and then just recently expressed to me that he couldn't imagine "harm coming to you" but was going to ensure he could mitigate the cost of death for you in case it did, I find myself wondering why he's so invested.
( bold and direct to the point as always harold. )
so you know about that?
he's invested because....we're from the same world. he and I go way back but....we aren't close or anything like that. his concern isn't from a place of care as far as I can tell.
this conversation might be better over a phone call, it's a really long story.
can I call you right now, are you free? also one last promise— promise me not to hate vincent too terribly for this. he's....he's a strange guy but he has his own troubles. you'll see soon enough.
Yes, of course. You're quite right that some things are better not put into text. I am free.
Whatever my personal feelings for Mr. Smith, he is a person and he deserves the respect of one. We all contain multitudes.
[ In other words, Harold almost never hates anyone, and disliking them won't make him treat them callously. On the other hand, he is getting more and more morbidly interested in what Heather and Vincent's dynamic must be for her to reluctantly defend his character like this... ]

He is a singularly strange man.

But I still find him extremely confusing. I had no idea you're from the same world. What do you know about him?

I uh....you have to promise not to tell him I told you this okay? I know quite a bit about him actually.

Of course. He's already tried to pry into what Ms. Maria has told me, and I entirely refused.
